We're a small Managed Service Provider (MSP) and we know documenting our work is crucial. Currently, we mainly use ITGlue for storing passwords, hardware configurations, vendor documents, and contact lists for important executives. However, I feel like we're not fully utilizing ITGlue and Datto. How do others use these tools? Any tips or ideas to enhance our documentation?

One effective way to use ITGlue is to categorize your hardware configurations by type, such as Servers, Workstations, Switches, and so on. Also, make sure to include other important info like ISP details, Active Directory setups, and even application licensing. This can really streamline how you access and manage your data.
I used to work with ITGlue, but we eventually switched because it wasn't meeting our specific needs. We used it for keeping track of rack layouts at customer locations, documenting connectivity flows, and a lot of customer-specific procedures. It did the job decently, but you might want to explore other options if you're looking for more flexibility.
I don't personally use ITGlue, but I recently stumbled upon something interesting called Netbox. It's mainly a DCIM tool for managing data center inventory, so it's not exactly meant for documentation purposes like ITGlue. For passwords and credentials, it's better to keep those in a dedicated password manager rather than documentation. I recommend looking into something like Bitwarden for managing all those sensitive details.
Totally agree! Keeping passwords separate is key. Netbox has its functionalities, but it's not built for the kind of documentation you need.
Thanks for the insight! I'll definitely take that into account when thinking about network connectivity documentation.
