Hey everyone! I recently got an ASUS ROG Strix G16 gaming laptop and I'm looking to set up a triple monitor configuration. The laptop has just one HDMI port and one Thunderbolt 4 output. Is there any way I can connect three monitors without using a docking station? Ideally, I want to use one 240Hz monitor for gaming and two 144Hz monitors, all at 1440p resolution. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I haven't tried it myself, but I've heard that Thunderbolt 4 allows for daisy chaining monitors. You'll want to check the specifications of your GPU and laptop to see how many monitors you can run at certain resolutions and refresh rates—there are sometimes limits based on the configuration. This could help you decide if you need extra dongles or a docking station down the line.
So, here's the thing: even with a docking station, you'd need three outputs to get all monitors working separately. If you just clone the output, both displays will show the same thing, which isn't ideal. Luckily, your laptop has a 2.1 HDMI port, a Thunderbolt port that supports DisplayPort output, and a USB-C port with DP out. You can use adapters or dongles to convert the Thunderbolt and USB-C into DisplayPort connections and hook those up to your monitors.
Just a heads up, gaming monitors usually don't support daisy chaining. You typically find that feature only on higher-end workstation monitors. To daisy chain, you need all but one monitor to support that capability; the last one in the series can be a regular monitor without daisy chaining support.
