Upgrading My Son’s Gaming PC for Better Performance

I'm looking to upgrade my son's gaming PC setup. Currently, he has an AMD B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC motherboard, a Ryzen 5 2600X processor, and an AMD Radeon 5600 XT graphics card, along with 32 GB of RAM. I believe the power supply is around 850-900 watts. I'd like to focus on upgrading the CPU and GPU while keeping my budget around $800. I also have a 20% discount available on PayPal. Any suggestions?

What about the Ryzen 7 5800XT for the CPU? Also, is NVIDIA currently better than AMD for gaming? Just wondering!

Check out this build I put together: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3wPL8Q. The GPU I selected is roughly three times faster! Here’s the spec sheet: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/geforce-rtx-5070.c4218.

You should consider getting either the Ryzen 5 5600X3D or the 5700X3D for the CPU. As for the GPU, definitely look into something like an NVIDIA RTX 5070, it's a great upgrade that should perform significantly better than the 5600 XT.
