I'm planning to build my ultimate 4K gaming PC and have already decided on almost all the other components. It's going to be an mATX setup with a 9800x3D processor in a CH270 case. However, I'm stuck on which GPU to pick. The 5080 seems like a solid option but I've heard some folks say it's not worth the price and that I should wait for the ti or super version to come out. The 5090 is too pricey, and while the 5070ti is more affordable, I've seen it compared to the 9070xt which is even cheaper. My budget isn't really a concern, but I do appreciate getting good value. The 5070ti is around 30% cheaper here, and the 9070xt is about 20% cheaper than the 5070ti. Do you think I would regret choosing the 5080 over the others? Thanks for any insights!

I’d suggest going for the 9070XT. It usually outperforms the 5070ti and is likely to gain even more performance when AMD rolls out their Redstone optimizations on December 10th. If you're really considering that last bit of performance for an extra $500, then go for the 5080, but honestly, GPU prices have gotten outrageous lately. Good luck!
For 4K gaming, you really have two primary options. The 5080 will work, but it's not the best bang for your buck. On the other hand, the 5090 is amazing but it's sky-high in price. Honestly, that's why I game at 1440p; I leave 4K gaming to those who can afford it without thinking twice.
I understand where you're coming from. I already have a 32" 4K OLED monitor, and I've been using it with my laptop which can handle 4K gaming with DLSS. So, I want to build a solid rig to match it. Appreciate your thoughts! Would love the 5080 to be closer to the performance of the 5090.
Check out some benchmarks for the games you're into. The 5080 does have less value for money, but it packs more power. There aren’t many alternatives if you're looking for those extra frames you crave.
Good call! I'll definitely check that out, thanks!
If you're going for a high-end 4K build and money isn’t a big issue, I’m curious why you’re stressing over value. It's true that the 5090 is a bit out of reach for most, but saying you want a dream build while considering budget options like the 9070XT seems a bit contradictory.
You make a solid point. I think I just have a tendency to weigh value heavily, even if I can spend more. Any recommendations on what I should go for?
Hot take, but I’ve always found the 90 series to be the best value. I’ve swung from 1080 Ti to 4090, and sold my 3090 and 4090 at prices that funded my upgrades. As for your original question, I'd say just grab the 5080. More performance is always a win, especially for 4K gaming.
That’s interesting, but the price for the 5090 in my area is just insane; it goes for double what the 5080 costs. Thanks for your advice!

Thanks for the tip! Really appreciate your input!
