Frequent Credential Prompts in Outlook – Need Help!

I'm using Outlook Classic on Windows 11 for a client who has their email server hosted at CrazyDomains. Recently, every computer connected to their network has begun prompting for email credentials every 30 minutes to 4 hours. I've tried various troubleshooting steps: creating a new Outlook profile, clearing the Credential Manager (though it was empty), updating both Office and Windows 11, adding an exception for their mail server in the antivirus, and editing registry keys to disable Autodiscover. The email setup has been adjusted to match recommendations from CrazyDomains. The computers are domain-joined with only mapped drives configured under group policies. Here are the email settings they use:

- Incoming Server: mail.BusDomain.com.au
- Port for IMAP: 143 (also tried 993)
- Outgoing Port: 587 (also tried 465 with SSL)
- SMTP authentication: on
- Secure Auth: off

Any insights on how to resolve this persistent credential request issue would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried recreating the user's Outlook profile? Just make sure to back up any locally stored emails first as you might lose them during the process. Sometimes starting fresh can resolve these kinds of annoyances.

Is there multi-factor authentication (MFA) set up on their email accounts? If so, generating app passwords for those accounts might be necessary to avoid the credential prompts.

Don't forget to enable Outlook's troubleshooting logging. Go to File > Options > Advanced, scroll down and check 'Enable troubleshooting logging'. This might help pinpoint the cause when the issue happens again.

If there have been any recent changes related to Office 365, like adding the domain to a tenant, you might want to check if there's a specific registry key—like 'excludeexplicito365endpoint'—that needs to be handled. This can sometimes cause unexpected issues.

Honestly, if they're using CrazyDomains, it might be worth reconsidering the email service. You're managing the system, so pushing for a more reliable option could save you headaches down the line, but I understand that wasn't your decision originally.
