I'm setting up my first gaming PC and haven't used Windows in over a decade, so I'm opting for Linux. I have Linux Mint Cinnamon set up on a boot drive already, but I'm considering CachyOS with KDE after seeing mixed reviews online. I'm curious about how much time I should realistically expect to spend each week dealing with issues on CachyOS. I've heard that Mint is quite stable and doesn't need much fixing, while CachyOS might require more time-consuming troubleshooting. I have limited Linux experience but I'm eager to learn. Ideally, I don't want to spend more than 2 hours a week on fixes. I plan to use my PC mainly for gaming, web browsing, and word processing, and I'll be using an AMD CPU and GPU with only Bluetooth speakers as peripherals.

I used CachyOS for about 11 months without any issues, and I didn't spend time doing weekly fixes. However, I did hit a snag with a routine update that created some dependency problems, and it ended up making my system unbootable as I tried to fix it. This experience wasn’t great, but it was isolated; updates generally went smoothly for me otherwise.
CachyOS is quite reliable. Most tinkering you might need to do would be minor adjustments to settings, like optimizing hibernation. I’ve found that updates are generally beneficial and I’ve had a great experience using it for gaming and writing.
I’ve been using Cachy for gaming and watching YouTube, and honestly, I rarely have to fix anything. It just works for me. My setup involves a full AMD rig with a 7800X3D and 9070XT GPU, and I haven't encountered issues. It has the standard software you'll need for basic tasks too, so don't worry too much about it breaking like some people say about Arch-based systems!
I’ve been running CachyOS for two years now, using it for gaming, programming, and even as a Plex Media server, and it’s been fantastic! I haven't faced any significant issues. It performs reliably well, so you shouldn’t have too much to fix.
