I built my computer about five years ago, and with the holiday season coming up, I'm looking to upgrade a few parts. Here are my current specs:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
- Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus
- Memory: G.Skill Trident Z Neo Series RGB 32GB (2 x 16GB)
- GPU: GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2070 Super WINDFORCE OC 3X with 8GB
- Storage: GIGABYTE AORUS NVMe Gen4 SSD 1TB
- Power Supply: Corsair RM750x 750 Watt 80 Plus Gold ATX

I want to know what I should upgrade to maximize my performance without spending more than $500. Any recommendations?

If you’re not really experiencing any performance issues right now, it might be smarter to hold off on upgrades. Waiting to save up for a larger upgrade down the road might get you more bang for your buck. With parts constantly evolving, that extra time might help you make a more informed choice about what you need.

You should definitely think about what you use the computer for. If it's mainly gaming and you feel any lag, a new GPU would probably give you a better boost than a CPU upgrade. You could aim for a Radeon 6700 or something similar, which should fit your budget and drive better performance.

If you're not running low on storage, I wouldn't prioritize upgrades there either. Just keep using your current setup until you really see a need for change. If you’re not having trouble with games, saving that cash for a bigger upgrade in a year or two could be more worth it in the long run.

I’d suggest upgrading your CPU to either the Ryzen 5700 or 5800 series. You might also want to consider getting a new GPU; the Radeon 6900 XT is a solid choice around your budget and would give you a nice performance boost. Going for that combo will really help maximize your performance for gaming and multitasking.
