I'm trying to decide between two graphics cards: the RTX 5070 for €490 and the RX 9070 XT for €640. Is the extra cost for the AMD card justified? I also just found the RTX 5070 for €490, so is that a better option?

In Germany, I've seen the RX 9070 XT for as low as €590, so it might be worth checking local prices. That could change the value equation for you!
Absolutely worth it! The RX 9070 XT has 4GB more VRAM, which can really make a difference in performance for gaming and graphics-heavy tasks.
Why not save some cash and go for the 9060 XT? It's got the same VRAM unless you're targeting 4K resolution.
Yeah, but keep in mind, the 9060 XT is around 35% slower.
Honestly, I'd just stick with the RTX 5070. It's a good card and saves you some money.
The RX 9070 XT typically offers about 23% better performance in rasterization along with the extra VRAM. It's generally a solid choice unless you specifically need features unique to Nvidia, like DLSS support.

I only found the Asrock version listed at €599 though.
