I'm trying to find a way to make my Windows 11 Home Edition update only when I give the okay. I can't seem to find any settings for this, especially since most guides only talk about options for the Pro edition. I've heard that the update pause feature doesn't stop the timer while my PC is off, and I ended up losing some work due to unexpected updates. Is there a hidden way to control this, or is it just not possible on this version?

Have you considered upgrading to Windows 11 Pro? Some users have found Pro licenses for really cheap, and it gives you more control over updates. It might be worth the investment if you want that flexibility.
Unfortunately, you can't use the Group Policy Editor in Windows 11 Home Edition, so there's no built-in way to control updates like you can on the Pro version. The options just aren’t available for Home users.
I’ve found that using ShutUp10 works on Windows 11 as well. It let me control what updates I want to accept, so it might be a good option for you!
You could try stopping the Windows Update service and setting it to disabled. It might prevent updates from installing without your knowledge, but I can't promise how well it will stick.
I got tired of dealing with settings and potential issues from updates, so I started using Macrium for full system backups. It’s saved me a couple of times, and I can easily restore my system if an update goes wrong. Just a suggestion if you want more control without the constant stress of updates.
