Hey everyone! I recently got my hands on a used set of 2x16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM rated for 6600 MT/s with CL32-39 timings. I'm planning to pair this with a 7800X3D CPU and a B650 Tomahawk motherboard. I've heard that the best compatibility for AM5 setups usually hovers around 6000 MT/s with CL30 timings. Rather than sticking to the XMP profile, I'm interested in manually overclocking the RAM to achieve those specs. I would love to get some advice on a good starting point, including recommended voltage and all necessary timings/settings, especially since this is my first time tweaking RAM settings. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

You might actually be able to get the 6600 to work, especially if you have a good chip. It's worth trying the XMP first and see how it goes. If it doesn’t boot, you can just reset the CMOS as a worst-case fix.
With the X3D CPU, it's generally okay to use the XMP profile, just dial down the speed. The actual performance gain from manual tuning can be minimal compared to gaming time lost. I'd recommend trying out the XMP settings at a lower speed first; that might save you a lot of hassle!
Thanks for the insight! Are you saying I should just adjust the speed in the XMP profile? How do I properly stress test to ensure everything is stable?
Just lowering it to 6000 should be straightforward, but keep an eye on other settings too. Sometimes, timing adjustments may also be needed.

If it doesn’t boot, I was wondering, would clearing the CMOS be enough to revert everything back?
