I manage a small organization with over 150 people, overseeing a range of IT functions involving the entire Microsoft 365 suite, including admin for Teams, SharePoint, Intune, Exchange, Entra, and Purview. I handle Intune for laptop and mobile device management, ticketing (mostly in-person or remote support using Datto), equipment ordering and provisioning, and workstation setup, including the furniture they use. My responsibilities also involve VoIP communication with our vendor and some asset management. Given all this, what would be the appropriate job title for my role in the IT field?

You might lean towards an IT Analyst or IT Support Analyst. Many small companies have roles that blend hands-on IT tasks with management responsibilities. If you’re helping higher-ups, you could even label it Executive IT Support!

I agree, IT Manager seems to fit, especially if you're overseeing multiple functions. I do similar work plus some Azure and VMware stuff, and I’m also called a Systems Engineer. Titles can vary, but it sounds like you're on the right track!

Same here, I’m a Systems Engineer too. All these roles have similar responsibilities, just different titles! This job market really needs some clarity on titles.

It could be more like IT Manager or even Director of IT, depending on your salary range and responsibilities. There's definitely a push for clearer job titles in the IT space since many of us juggle a lot.

Absolutely! With all your tasks, you deserve a title that reflects your work, not just one that sounds impressive.

Sounds like you're doing a bit of everything! You might consider a title like IT Manager or maybe Tier I Help Desk if you're handling basic support, but it seems your duties go beyond that. If you grow your team, you might even step into a CTO role down the line!

Along the lines of IT Manager or Tier 2/3 Help Desk. It’s still hands-on, but as you grow in your role, you’ll be moving toward more administrative duties.

Yeah, once you get a few more employees under you, your title could really change!
