I've been having a huge headache trying to install the LAN driver for my MSI B550M PRO-VDH motherboard. Every time I initiate the installation, my PC reboots instantly—no warnings or blue screens, just an unexpected restart! Here are my specs:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
- Motherboard: MSI B550M PRO-VDH
- RAM: 16GB DDR4 (2x8GB, 3200MHz)
- GPU: ASUS GeForce RTX 3050 Dual OC 8GB
- PSU: Corsair CX750 750W
- CPU Cooler: NZXT T120 RGB
- Case: Hyte X50
- Fans: 3x Corsair (one back fan is inactive due to a short cable)
- Storage: SSD/HDD, with AHCI mode enabled
My temps are normal—around 33°C for the CPU and 31°C for the system—so it's not a cooling issue. I've tried a bunch of things, including manual driver installs via Device Manager, ensuring all old LAN drivers are removed, checking my BIOS settings, using a USB installer in UEFI mode, and verifying that all hardware components are correctly installed. Yet, every time I attempt to install the LAN driver, the PC just reboots immediately. Has anyone faced similar issues? I'm desperate for solutions!

Have you considered booting into Windows Safe Mode? Sometimes, installing problematic drivers from there can help bypass issues that cause immediate restarts. It disables non-essential drivers and might let you get the LAN driver installed without reboots. Let me know if you need help with getting into Safe Mode!
Also, make sure you are using the latest version of the LAN driver from the MSI website. Sometimes the drivers that come on the disc or even in Windows updates can be outdated or buggy.
