I recently built a PC from scratch, but now I'm facing an issue with activating Windows. I have Windows 11 Home installed, but the key I purchased is for Windows 11 Pro. I didn't get the option to select the version when I installed it. Should I do a full reboot of the computer to fix this? I've searched for how to install Windows 11 Pro online, but most resources just cover Windows 11 Home. The Media Creation Tool also doesn't seem to allow me to change to the Pro edition. Am I missing something here? I'm pretty new to this and mostly learn by doing. Thanks for any help!

Have you tried just entering the license key directly? Sometimes that's all it takes. But note, if it’s rejecting it, that could signal either a mismatch or some issue with the key itself.
Have you checked if the key you bought is legit? You can do this by opening Command Prompt as an Administrator. Just search for 'cmd,' right-click it, and choose 'Run as Administrator.' Then type in the command 'slmgr /dli '. It’ll contact Microsoft’s activation servers and let you know if the key is valid and which version it’s for. Oh, and by the way, if Windows isn't working out for you, Linux is a solid alternative - it's free and can handle a lot without the bloating that comes with Windows.

I’m actually considering Linux! I'm building a server and heard the operating systems need to match for a home network? I could be wrong though. My brain feels a bit foggy lately, dealing with some personal stuff. When I'm good, I feel a lot sharper. Thanks for the suggestion!
