Is My PC Bottlenecked?

Hey everyone! I built my PC back in 2021 and it has an RTX 3060Ti GPU, which I thought would give me a solid gaming experience. However, I'm noticing that my frame rates aren't that great. My CPU is an AMD Ryzen 5 with 6 cores and 12 threads. Could the CPU be the reason for my games not running smoothly, or is there something else going on?

You really need to provide more details about your CPU. An AMD Ryzen 5 can be a lot of different models, like the 1600 or 5600X. What's the exact model? That could help diagnose the issue better.

Sorry, I should’ve clarified! It’s actually a Ryzen 5 5600X.

Every computer has its bottlenecks. Depending on the game, your settings, and your monitor resolution, it can differ. Generally speaking, a Ryzen 5 5600X paired with a 3060Ti should work fine at 1080p, if you're seeing issues, it could be something else in your setup affecting performance.

Also, do you mind sharing more about the games you’re playing and your monitor settings? That could impact your performance too. I mean, trying to run Sea of Thieves at max graphics is definitely resource-heavy!

I’ve been running Sea of Thieves with max settings and occasionally hitting below 60 FPS.

Honestly, if you’re not reaching super high frame rates, there’s likely a bottleneck somewhere in your system. Specifics like CPU model and RAM speed can also play a big role, so keep that in mind!

If your GPU isn’t hitting 100% utilization, then you might be CPU-bound. You can check your GPU usage with tools like HWInfo. If it’s close to full utilization, then your GPU is the bottleneck.
