I've just built a new gaming PC, but I'm experiencing some major slowdowns. Despite having decent specs, I'm struggling to hit 60 FPS while playing basic games like FPS Chess, and the lag is really bad. Here are my specs for reference:
- OS: Windows 11 Pro
- CPU: Ryzen 5 7800x3D
- Cooler: Thermalright Assassin X
- GPU: AMD RX 7900XT 20GB
- Memory: 32GB DDR5 at 6000MHz
- Storage: 1TB NVME SSD
- Power Supply: 800W CIT Pro 80+ Bronze
- WiFi: AC 600Mbps + Bluetooth
- Motherboard: Gigabyte A620M.
Can anyone offer advice on how to fix these performance issues?

It might be an overheating issue. Your CPU cooler seems a bit underpowered for a Ryzen 5 7800X3D, which could lead to thermal throttling. Install HWINFO to monitor your CPU temperatures, and consider upgrading to a better cooler if necessary. Don't forget to update your GPU and chipset drivers too!

I had a similar problem after setting my power plan to efficiency mode by mistake. Make sure you've set it to performance mode in your Windows settings. Also, check your task manager for any background processes that might be hogging resources. Lastly, verify game settings like V-Sync, and turn off any unnecessary features in your GPU settings.

Your motherboard and power supply might be holding you back. It’s worth considering an upgrade to a B650 or B850 motherboard and a higher-tier PSU. This can help ensure better stability and performance with your Ryzen CPU. Also, make sure to enable EXPO in the BIOS for your RAM and check other settings related to your monitor refresh rates.

First off, have you installed your GPU drivers? It's essential for your hardware to communicate correctly with the software. Also, double-check if your monitor is plugged into the GPU and not the motherboard; that’s a common mistake that can lead to performance issues.
