Will a DP to HDMI Adapter Affect My Display Quality?

I'm currently dealing with a frustrating issue on my new build. My BIOS shows up on my vertical monitor, which has a DisplayPort, while my main gaming monitor, an LG 34 IPS (34WP550-B), only has an HDMI connection. It's annoying to keep having to deal with this when I need to access the BIOS, especially since my GPU, an MSI 5080, displays the BIOS on DisplayPort first, and HDMI last. I've considered switching to a DP to HDMI adapter or cable to connect my main monitor, but I'm concerned about losing any quality or performance for gaming. I know Amazon has both active and passive adapters out there. Would opting for an active adapter or cable really help maintain my display quality? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Using a DP to HDMI adapter shouldn't be an issue for your setup, especially since you're not planning on doing anything like daisy chaining. I’d recommend going for an active adapter, as they generally perform better and help maintain quality. I've looked into this as well, and it seems to solve the BIOS display problem without sacrificing any resolution or refresh rate for your games. Seems like a solid choice if you're looking to simplify those BIOS access situations!

Yeah, I totally get it! It might feel a bit like a first-world problem, but having all those monitors set up for different purposes can complicate things. Just make sure you're getting a good quality adapter, and you should be fine. Plus, your main HDMI monitor is primarily for gaming, so that quality is totally worth keeping intact!
