Is It Worth Upgrading from Ryzen 5 5600X After Getting an RTX 5070 Ti?

Hey everyone! I've been thinking about upgrading my processor for a while now, especially since I just got myself an RTX 5070 Ti. I'm wondering if I should stick with my current Ryzen 5 5600X or consider an upgrade. I primarily use my PC for gaming, 3D modeling, and video editing on a 1440p monitor. I'm also trying to keep costs low due to high RAM prices, and I want to keep my current AM4 motherboard. I've heard good things about the 5700X3D and 5800X3D, but I can't seem to find them anywhere—only the X versions. Any advice?

Upgrading to something like the 5700X or 5900X could help with rendering and video editing. But for gaming, they might just perform slightly better than your 5600X. Plus, you'll probably hit some bottlenecks with a powerful GPU like the 5070 Ti, even at 1440p. If you want to really unleash that GPU, you'd need to look at the 5700X3D or 5800X3D.

The X3D chips for AM4 have been out of production for a while now, so finding a new one will be tough without paying a premium. If you're looking for an upgrade on the AM4 platform, the 5800X is your best bet. It should give you a nice performance boost for your non-gaming tasks.

So far, it looks like the 5800X is the best choice for an upgrade, especially since the X3D series is so hard to find right now.

I've been in your position, and honestly, the 5700X3D and 5800X3D are only available second-hand now. That said, they could be worth the investment if you find one!

I had a similar dilemma with my setup. Ultimately, I decided to build a whole new PC because finding the right parts was just too tricky. I ended up spending around $2900 on a new build, which included a new GPU and added RAM. If I could have found a good 3D CPU, I would have considered just upgrading!
