Is it Better to Keep Your OS and Games on Separate SSDs?

I'm building a new gaming PC and I'm trying to figure out the best way to set up my storage. I initially planned to get a 500GB M.2 SSD for my operating system, plus apps like Discord and Steam, while using two SATA SSDs (transferring from my old PC) that give me a total of 8TB for all my games and videos. However, space is tight with the games I have now, and I'm considering adding a 2TB SSD in the future.

My question is: Should I stick to my plan of using separate drives for the OS and games for better performance and organization? Or would it be more efficient to just get a 2TB SSD for the OS and keep a few games on it too? Is partitioning the 2TB SSD to separate the OS and games a good idea? Thanks for your insights!

Keeping your OS and games on separate SSDs isn't strictly necessary, but many find it helpful. I like having my games on a different drive to make reinstalling Windows easier since I can keep them without losing any data if I need to reset things. It can save you time, especially if your Steam library is just a couple of clicks away after a reset!

I totally agree! Just went through a Windows reinstall, and having my games on a separate drive made it super easy to get right back into playing.
