I've built a powerful gaming rig with a 13700K CPU, a 4090 GPU, and 32GB of DDR5 RAM. I mainly enjoy single-player games on my 4K OLED TV at 120Hz and competitive titles on a 3440x1440 ultrawide OLED monitor at 175Hz, including games like Cyberpunk, Arc Raiders, and Battlefield 6. I'm considering an upgrade to an AM5 board and a 9800X3D CPU, while keeping my current RAM. Do you think this upgrade would provide a significant performance boost? I'm also concerned that prices for motherboards and CPUs might rise next year, making it harder for me to upgrade later. Additionally, I plan to get a 4K 240Hz monitor in the future.

While you might see some gains in high FPS competitive situations, you'll need to consider the costs. Watch some comparison videos online to see if it seems worthwhile to you. Also, from what I've seen, prices for CPUs and motherboards are actually dropping in some places, so you might find better deals soon!
If you're sensitive to frame rates, I did notice an improvement when I switched from a 12700K to the 9800X3D, especially in low FPS scenarios. If you're really feeling the need for that extra performance, and don't mind selling your current setup, it might be worth it. But overall, the differences aren't massive.
Not worth it. Upgrading now will just give you minimal improvements for a big hit to your wallet. Your current setup is more than capable for gaming, so I’d stick with it for a while longer.
Upgrading would cost over $700 for some slight improvements. It's a steep price for not much of a return, so I'd just hold off on the upgrade for now.
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend the upgrade right now. The 13700K is already a powerhouse and works well with modern GPUs. Going for the 9800X3D would probably not give you enough of a performance boost to justify the cost, especially since you could wait for AM6 to come out. Save your cash for something that will make a bigger difference! 👍
