How to Optimize DFS File Server Configuration?

I'm working with two DFS file servers that are set up to replicate a 3TB folder, which is just one of seven folders in total. Currently, I've allocated a 300GB staging quota for this folder in DFS management. I'm wondering if this quota is too large since I've noticed that the "DfsrPrivate" folder has grown quite a bit to around 240GB, which is affecting our backup window and storage capacity. In my experience, setting a smaller quota (around 10GB) has led to replication failures. I would love to hear suggestions on how to configure the staging quota effectively to maintain replication while also improving our backup timings. Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Typically, a staging quota around 10% of your folder size is sufficient. Since your folder is 3TB, 300GB seems quite high considering you're already using 80% of it. One tip would be to exclude the DfsrPrivate folder from your backup process. That could really help with reducing backup times and storage use.

Got it, I'll configure that exclusion in Veeam and see how it goes!
