I'm trying to figure out which Linux distribution would work best for my old laptop, which is about 4-5 years old. It has an i7-10875h processor, a 3070 GPU, a 1TB SSD, and 32GB of DDR4 RAM. The battery life is pretty disappointing; it only lasts around an hour, and I can't get a new battery right now. Will switching to Linux help improve my battery performance? If you need more details to help with your recommendations, feel free to ask!

Switching to Linux really improved my battery life, no matter which distro I used. I ended up going with Fedora i3, but honestly, the lighter the distro, the better for battery. Just remember, the desktop environment and the apps you run can impact battery life a lot more than the distro itself. I highly recommend trying something lightweight, like Debian or Xfce. Also, check out TLP; it's a great tool for managing power on laptops! If your battery life still stinks after that, you might need to explore other options.

Is Debian beginner-friendly? I'm considering it!
