Can I Control My GPU Fan Speed on Linux?

I've recently installed MX Linux on my system and overall, I'm pretty happy with it. However, I'm facing a frustrating issue with my old AMD HD 6570 GPU—the fan is constantly running at 30%, which is really loud and bothersome, especially since I spend about 5 to 8 hours a day on my computer. On Windows, I could easily use SpeedFan to manage this, but I've been struggling to find a similar solution on Linux. I've tried tools like CoreCtrl, CoolerControl, Fan Control, LACT, and Radeon Profile, but none of them have options to modify the fan speed. Is there any hope for me to gain control over this fan noise?

Have you tried looking into [radeon-profile](https://github.com/marazmista/radeon-profile)? Just a heads up, I see you mentioned trying it already at the end of your post, but this tool usually helps with fan management on AMD cards. Might be worth a second look!

You definitely can control the fan curve! It may require some configuration depending on the tools you're using, but there's hope. If the applications you’ve tried don’t work, you might want to dive deeper into some command line options that are available.

What’s the specific make and model of your GPU? If you're comfortable with command line tools, there might be a way to control the fan speed that doesn’t rely on a GUI program. It could take some digging, but it’s possible! I’d suggest checking out this wiki as a starting point: [Fan Speed Control on ArchLinux](https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Fan_speed_control).
