Hey everyone! I've just built my first PC and I'm loving the upgrade from my old laptop. However, I'm facing a bit of a hassle when it comes to switching between my work laptop and my new gaming PC, especially with my dual monitor setup. I have a dock for my peripherals like my keyboard, mouse, and headphones, plus two monitors, including an ultra-wide one. Previously, with my old setup, I could easily switch between devices using just one USB-C connection. Now, I want a more streamlined solution where I can press a button and instantly switch all my peripherals back to my PC without having to manually change the monitor inputs every time. I came across a device called the KD-E10 from AV Access that offers a simple one-cable solution for my work laptop and keeps everything for my PC connected. However, I'm hesitant to spend around $250 AUD on it as I'm still new to setting up PCs. I would really appreciate any recommendations on alternate products or if the KD-E10 is worth the investment!

You might want to consider using a KVM switch for your setup. Connect your laptop and PC to the KVM, which will then handle the rest. It's usually cheaper since the dock will take care of power delivery. Just make sure to get a dual HDMI KVM that can support your monitor's resolution, or that might be a tricky part!

I had no idea you could hook up a dock to a KVM! Got any specific recommendations? I’m kind of anxious about shelling out cash for something not worthwhile.
