My power supply recently blew up, and I'm considering using an older 13-year-old Corsair PSU that I have to check if my other components are still functioning. Is it safe to do this, or should I avoid using such an old unit for testing?

I wouldn’t risk it. Even if that PSU is working, 13 years is a long time for any electronic component. It could have hidden issues that might affect your parts. Better safe than sorry!

What if it’s kept in a good environment? Would it still be risky? I've got some old parts too.

Many people use older PSUs for testing, and I don't see a problem if you're just checking parts. Just be aware it might not perform at its best.
