Dealing with Persistent Pain in the Rhomboid Area

Has anyone else experienced a constant, dull ache around the rhomboid area, which is located between the shoulder blade and spine? It feels like a deep soreness or stiffness that just won't go away, and I constantly feel the need to crack my upper back to relieve the pressure. Unfortunately, even when I do pop it, I still feel no relief. If you've dealt with similar pain, what specific stretches or trigger point releases have helped you?

Start incorporating yoga into your routine. It can really help with stiffness. Also, consider using Vim or a Vim extension for your IDE to keep your posture better.

Very interesting! I tried yoga once but didn't stick with it.

I've had a similar issue before. In my previous job, I found that raising the backrest of my chair really helped relieve the pain in that area. It made a huge difference!

Thanks for the tip! I'll try adjusting my chair.

I had similar pain but switched to a Kinesis split keyboard, which allowed me to sit upright with my shoulders squared. That helped a lot! But I’d recommend seeing a doctor just to be safe.

Appreciate the info! I do pull-ups three times a week and it usually varies throughout my work.

Yup, I feel your pain! If you spend a lot of time working with a mouse, that can definitely contribute to the soreness. I code for about 8 hours a day, and it’s tough on the back.

Oh yes, that’s exactly my situation!
