I've been having a strange issue with my Windows 11 laptop. I've had Discord for a long time without any problems, but lately, every time I open Discord, it makes the Task Manager unresponsive. The Task Manager opens, but it doesn't update or show the running tasks correctly. When I try to restart my laptop, it just gets stuck on the restart screen. Other apps, like Epic Games or Sony Vegas, also have trouble opening unless I use the browser. The computer works perfectly fine until I open Discord. Even if I have Task Manager running when I start Discord, it gets frozen and non-responsive until I restart the computer. I've already reinstalled Discord, scanned for malware, and ensured my Windows is up to date, but things haven't changed. I really need to use Discord, so does anyone know what might be causing this issue or how to fix it?

That sounds pretty frustrating! Since everything goes haywire when Discord opens, it’s likely tripping up some system processes instead of just crashing. Here are some steps you can try: 1) Turn off hardware acceleration in Discord (you can find it in Settings → Advanced). 2) Disable the in-game overlay. 3) Clear Discord's cache by deleting the Discord folders in both %appdata% and %localappdata% because uninstalling alone won't remove everything. 4) Lastly, check if your GPU drivers have been updated recently. Task Manager relies on some similar services that Discord uses, so if any of those get stuck, it might look frozen, while Windows is still running normally. I found a website with more info on this issue; check it out if you need extra details! [Link](https://techhelpusa.com/article/opening_discord_makes_task_manager_unresponsive_windows_11)
Considering the symptoms, it sounds like it’s related to how your graphics card interacts with Discord. I’ve noticed similar problems in the past with Nvidia drivers.

Thanks for the tips! I already went ahead and reinstalled Discord, logged in, and disabled hardware acceleration. Unfortunately, that didn’t work for me – I also turned off the overlay, and still, when Discord closes, my Task Manager freezes, and I have to force shut down my PC. I manually deleted the Discord files from AppData before reinstalling, but I'm not sure if it's a GPU driver issue or because of a recent Windows update. It’s puzzling how a third-party app can cause such a problem!
