Is Nobara the Right Linux Choice for My Creative Work?

I've just tried the KDE version of Nobara and really enjoyed it! I'm definitely making the switch to Linux since I'm not a fan of Windows 11 anymore. I've even canceled my Norton Virus Scanner subscription that ends in September. I do a lot of creative work on my PC, so I'm looking for input from experienced users on whether Nobara would be a good fit for my needs. Here are my PC specs:

- AMD Ryzen 9 3900x (12 core)
- Nvidia 3060 12 GB
- 128 GB RAM
- 1 TB NVME SSD (FireCuda)
- 1 TB NVME SSD (Samsung 980 Pro)
- 2 SATA SSDs (1 TB and 120 GB)
- 1000 Watt Power Supply
- ASUS Crosshair VIII Dark Hero Motherboard

The software I must run includes DaVinci Resolve Studio, Unreal Engine, and Cakewalk by Bandlab (which I suspect might not run, but I'm hoping for good alternatives since I'm in the middle of a project).

Good call on dropping Norton! They're essentially the malware we try to avoid, haha.

It was quite a hassle to cancel! They offered me discounts and extensions even after I said no. It felt like dealing with a needy ex!

The best choice for you is really the one that fits your needs and feels right. Just go with what you like!

Thanks for your input! I figured as much, and I'm not afraid of using the terminal. I've been around since the Amiga days!

You should have no issues running DaVinci Resolve and Unreal Engine on Nobara. Not familiar with Cakewalk, but there are alternatives out there. For Unreal, I recommend using the Epic Asset Manager to manage your projects — you can install it via Flatpak in Nobara. Just remember to use the Nobara specific Package Manager for installs and updates to keep things stable!

Thank you very much for the tips!

Reaper is a fantastic DAW that's been around nearly 20 years and is available on Linux. It's consistently updated, so it might be worth checking out!

I've heard Reaper is a strong alternative in that space.

Thanks, I'll definitely look into that!
