Why is my laptop’s download speed throttling?

I've been experiencing some internet issues with my laptop recently. Whenever I try to download a game or an app, the download speed gets capped at exactly 10 Mbps (which is about 1 megabyte per second). Once the speed exceeds 11 Mbps, it drops drastically, down to around 2.5 Mbps or even 4 Mbps. This seems like a throttling problem. I have a suspicion this might have started after a recent update, but I really only noticed it now since I was busy with exams. I could really use some help to fix this. Thanks in advance!

Hey! It sounds like you might be dealing with a specific issue related to Nvidia graphics cards. There was a Windows security update that messed up things for a lot of users with Nvidia GPUs. You could try uninstalling that update and see if it helps. Also, if you're downloading from the browser, the source might be throttling your speed, so testing a different download site can help. Lastly, have you tried using an Ethernet connection? If not, I suggest giving that a shot.

If you’re already on Ethernet and still facing this, it could be a laptop-specific issue. I had a similar problem where the download speed was capped before I switched to Ethernet, but it got better for me. Try checking if that Nvidia update is causing it or if there's anything else on your system affecting the download speeds. Also, have you tried downloading from different platforms like EA, Steam, or qBittorrent? Sometimes, certain apps can behave weirdly.
