Why is my Microsoft Surface 2 so slow on Fedora 43?

Hi everyone! I'm running Fedora 43 on my Microsoft Surface 2, but it feels really sluggish. I know it has 8 GB of RAM, and while that's not a lot, I have another laptop with the same amount that performs much better. I mainly use this Surface for schoolwork and browsing the internet, but it takes forever to load anything. I've already cleared my browser cache and kept my files to a minimum since installing Fedora 43. Is there any way to improve its performance? Is this just a hardware issue because of how Microsoft set things up, or should I consider getting rid of it altogether? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Have you thought about trying Linux Mint? It's known for being lightweight and could help with speed issues. A lot of people prefer it over other distros, especially on older hardware.

Honestly, the Surface 2 isn’t the best choice out there. It's old tech, mainly that dual-core CPU is a big bottleneck. Modern websites and browsers have become way more resource-intensive, so it’s not just you. The hardware just can’t keep up anymore.

Yeah, I’ve heard that Surfaces aren’t great devices overall. My IT team has been trying to replace ours because they just don't perform well for anything. Maybe it’s time to look for a reliable alternative.
