Why Is My New PC’s SSD Always at 100% Usage?

I've got a brand new PC with some serious specs: an RTX 5080, an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, and 64GB of RAM paired with a 2TB SSD. Initially, everything was running smoothly, but for the last few weeks, I've been experiencing extreme lag. Startup times are outrageous, and almost every program I try to open causes the system to freeze. I've tried all the usual fixes—shutting down processes, reinstalling drivers, and even going through all the Windows updates again. I thought reinstalling Windows 11 would solve the problem, but no luck so far. I'm really at my wit's end here. Any advice on how to fix this SSD usage issue?

It sounds rough! A couple of things to consider: 1) How full is your SSD? 2) Have you checked if there's a firmware update available for it? I noticed during my research that your SSD doesn't have DRAM, which means it relies heavily on part of its storage like virtual memory. Additionally, overheating can cause performance issues, so if there's room, maybe consider getting an SSD heat sink to keep it cooler.

Seeing 100% usage all the time can be frustrating! I recommend checking if your SSD is full—this can drastically affect performance. Also, frequent spikes to 100% can happen if the SSD overheats. You might want to monitor its temperature and see if there's a way to cool it down. If you're sure the drivers are all up to date, that could help as well.

Hey! First off, which specific SSD model do you have? Also, are there any particular tasks that seem to spike its usage? Using tools like CrystalDiskInfo can give you a clearer picture of what's happening with your drive. If the SSD is a low-quality one, it could be struggling to keep up. Or it may be a particular program that's hogging resources—could also be a connection issue causing repeated attempts to read/write, which would spike usage.

I just checked and it's the tm8fp6002t model. Honestly, every single task makes the SSD shoot up to 100% usage, no exceptions.
