Recently, my CPU failed, causing my PC to crash and giving me the blue screen of death, which means it's time for an upgrade. My main question is whether I should stick with the AM4 socket and upgrade to something like the Ryzen 7 5800XT, or is it worth it to switch to the newer AM5 platform and invest in DDR5 RAM, even though it's pretty pricey? I'm planning to upgrade the CPU, GPU, and PSU regardless, but I want to keep my total cost under $1000 USD, though I might go a bit higher if the AM5 upgrade is worth it.

I think upgrading to a Ryzen 5700X or 5800X can provide a good performance leap without the need to switch to AM5 right now. Focus on getting a new GPU to really enhance your gaming experience; go for a 9060XT or 9070XT if you can.
Just know that with 16GB of DDR5 priced around $400-500 and GPU prices similar, it's gonna add up fast. Stick with AM4 for now unless AM5 prices dip. It's really frustrating out there with inflated prices on chips like the 5800X3D!
