I've got an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X CPU paired with an ROG RYUJIN II 360 ARGB liquid cooler and a GeForce RTX 3090 GPU in a Sharkoon REV300 RGB case. I built this rig in late 2023 with some help, expecting it to be high-end for gaming. Recently, my computer has been overheating and crashing while playing very simple games like Minecraft and Enter the Gungeon, which just seems crazy! It used to handle more demanding titles, but the overheating has become unbearable, even with ventilation adjustments. The CPU temperatures are concerning, but I don't have a good way to check the GPU's temperature. There's no dust obstructing the fans, and I haven't reapplied thermal paste since the build, which I thought would last for years. I'm at a loss and really anxious about what's happening. Can anyone help me figure this out?

Have you set your BIOS to eco mode? That could help you figure out if it's a hardware issue or just overheating. Also, make sure your fans are working properly in a push-pull setup. If there's any chance you might have a crypto miner running in the background, it could be eating up resources too, causing those temps to spike.
First off, definitely check if your CPU or GPU is hitting high temperatures. You mentioned the CPU temps, but getting GPU readings is just as important. Sometimes, if you've got bad thermal paste application or bad contact, it can lead to overheating. Make sure the cooling system for your CPU is properly installed—double-check that you removed any protective plastic from the cooler. If you’re noticing issues with thermal performance, even swapping to an air cooler as a temporary fix might help.
I totally agree! It’s usually a good idea to check thermal paste application. You might not need to replace it perfectly often, but a bad job can definitely lead to problems like this.
