I recently built a mini ITX computer, and it was running great until a mishap today. I accidentally unplugged the extension board that my PC is connected to, which tripped the breaker for that outlet. After resetting the breaker, my PC won't power on at all. I tried unplugging the PSU and holding down the power button, then plugged it back in, but still nothing. I removed all USB devices and other connections, but the power button seems completely unresponsive. I'm hesitant to perform the paperclip test because there are strange electrical clicking noises when I touch the PSU plug to the socket, which makes me nervous about getting shocked. My PSU is a Thermaltake TOUGHPOWER GF A3 Gold 650W, and the motherboard is a GIGABYTE B550I AORUS PRO AX. This is really frustrating since the PC is so new!

It sounds like a risky situation with the electrical issues you're hearing. I completely understand your hesitation about the paperclip test! If you're really unsure about doing it, you might want to take the PSU to a professional for testing instead. Better safe than sorry!
Sounds like your PSU might be damaged if it's making those clicking noises. Since you tripped the breaker, it could have sent a surge through the system. I’d recommend trying a different PSU to see if that fixes the issue. Just make sure to set everything up neatly and safely, so you avoid another unplugging accident!
Yeah, I agree with switching out the PSU first. That clicking noise is definitely a concern. Just take your time—it might not be fried, but better to be safe and check with a new unit!
For sure! It's always good to consult someone who knows what they're doing with power supplies. You can also check the warranty on the PSU—it might cover damages, especially if it’s that new.
