How Can I Filter Out Licensable Images in Google Search?

I'm trying to find a way to filter out licensable images in Google/Chrome search results because I want to avoid accidentally using them in my work. I'd rather not even see them at all. Is there a setting I can adjust, or do I need an app to help with this? Also, I'm using a mobile phone. Any suggestions on how to go about this would be greatly appreciated!

I’m in a similar boat! I’m actually working on an alternate history project too, and I need the right resources for my maps. Have you tried searching specifically in databases that offer public domain images or historical maps? Those might be better suited for what you're looking for!

It sounds like there's a bit of confusion regarding image licensing. Images marked as licensable aren't free for use; in fact, they can't be used without permission. Typically, images that are truly free to use are explicitly marked as such or belong to the public domain. That said, you might want to focus on public domain resources or look for images with clear licensing terms. Just keep in mind that not everything that's unmarked is available for public use!

If you're looking to see only Creative Commons images that shouldn't have license issues, you can use the "Tools" option in the image search and select "Creative Commons Licenses." Just keep in mind, Google’s license info may not always be accurate, so if you’re using those images for something commercial, make sure to verify the rights yourself.
