Hey everyone! I built my first PC last year and was planning to upgrade this year, but my current CPU is slowing me down. I'm looking at the R7 5700X3D or 5800X3D as potential upgrades since I'm sticking with an AM4 socket. However, I've found them listed for ridiculous prices on eBay, around $1200! Right now, I have an R5 3600 and I'm getting about 140 fps in performance mode, but I'm super excited about the performance boost I could get from these new CPUs. If anyone can help me find one at a reasonable price or suggest alternatives that perform similarly, I'd really appreciate it! Also, if you have any insights on DDR5 RAM prices or a good entry-level motherboard and RAM for AM5, I'm open to starting fresh and saving up. By the way, I have a 2070 Super GPU, and I'm planning to keep that for now since my games are mostly CPU bound.

Honestly, just grab a Ryzen 5 5600 or any of the 5800X variants and enjoy the games! Some people speculate that AMD might release more 5nnnX3D CPUs, but I kind of doubt it. They seem to be focusing on the 5{6,7,8}00X line since AM4 is their budget line now. And honestly, if you're thinking of upgrading, it might be wise to update your GPU later. Just save up for the big jump to AM6 and the upcoming RTX 10000 series in a few years!
You might want to consider the Ryzen 5 series like the 5600, 5600X, or even the 5700X and 5800X. They’re generally more affordable and still perform quite well. Just a heads-up, I don't see DDR5 prices dropping anytime soon, so plan accordingly!
Keep an eye on eBay! I spotted a 5700X3D at a decent price just a few days ago. It might be worth checking regularly, even if you're in Australia!
Are you in the US? I'm bummed that I can't just grab one easily. I'll take a look on US eBay too!

Great advice! Which CPU do you recommend? I love hitting 140 fps but want to see if I can push it to 160. I realize the X3D has some serious performance claims, but the 3600 isn’t all bad either. Graphics upgrades are definitely on my mind too!
