Hey everyone! I'm a relatively new sys admin at a large company that's been growing rapidly over the last five years. We're still dealing with a lot of legacy IT systems and processes. I'm trying to figure out if an O365 standard business license is enough for setting up Entra ID single sign-on with Cisco AnyConnect. Is this a recommended method of authentication? And would using Cisco Duo be a better option?

I've been using Entra ID SSO to log into Cisco AnyConnect for years and it works great! We have a specific conditional access policy for the AnyConnect app, which lets us adjust the requirements for VPN access. I’m not sure about the O365 standard license because we use Business Premium, but I think it should still work with the standard one. Why not set it up and give it a shot?
Make sure to check your actual license. You can use this website to see what's included: https://m365maps.com/matrix.htm#011000000000000000000. It'll help clarify your options.
The standard O365 license should work for basic SSO setup through Entra. If you want advanced configurations, you'd need the Entra P1 license. But for a simple JIT or SAML setup, your current license should be fine.
You won’t get Entra with the standard O365; you’ll need Microsoft 365 or Business Premium. While a P1 license isn't strictly necessary for SSO apps, having it highly recommended for additional management features. In my opinion, Cisco Duo is a great alternative too!
