Which is better for my build: 32GB DDR4 or 16GB DDR5?

I'm in the process of building my PC and I've been debating between two setups. Currently, I'm considering using an Intel i5 14600K with a B760 motherboard and 32GB DDR4 RAM instead of a 16GB DDR5 RAM setup with a 9070 XT graphics card. I was initially planning on using the 9600X with 16GB DDR5 and the 9070 XT, but I'm feeling confused about whether I should stick with DDR4 or go with DDR5 for AMD. Any thoughts on this?

I personally recommend going for the AM5 setup. If you get the 16GB now, you can always upgrade later when prices drop. This way you have a better upgrade path for future CPUs too!

But if you're downgrading your GPU too, that might affect your overall build quality.

Honestly, the i5 14600K with 32GB of RAM is going to serve you much better than a 16GB DDR5 setup, especially if you multitask a lot, like using dual monitors and keeping a browser open. Intel just tends to run smoother for me. You’re right about the AM5 being an option for future X3D chips, but it might cost you a lot more than you think since you'd also want to invest in 32GB RAM eventually.

I totally agree! Plus, with the prices on 7500X3D and 7600X3D being so high, sticking to the Intel route seems like a smarter move.
