Hey everyone! I recently picked up a 5TB WD Elements external hard drive to create local backups of my cloud data, and I've been using it for about a week now. I checked the drive's health using CrystalDiskInfo, but I'm having trouble understanding the results. It reported the health status as "Good," but I want to make sure everything is okay before I rely on it for storing my important files. I'd appreciate it if someone could help me interpret the health status! Also, should I run any monthly tests using CrystalDiskInfo to prevent potential issues? Thanks a lot!

From what I've seen, CrystalDiskInfo is pretty reliable. If it's showing a "Good" health status, then your drive is in good shape! In fact, I'd say it's in perfect health considering it’s brand new.
Yeah, your drive is totally fine! It says "good" in CrystalDiskInfo, and with only 12 power cycles and 32 hours of usage, it's likely mostly factory tested. Just a heads up though, it’s a bit on the slow side at 4800 RPM, which isn’t great for heavy use.
As noted, the health should be good since it says so. If you want peace of mind, occasional monthly checks with CrystalDiskInfo can be a good practice. You've got some solid backup options with your other drives too!

Totally agree! Anything below 7200 RPM feels sluggish for my backups too. But for monthly local backups, it should work just fine.
