Why Is My 5080 FE Crashing in Every Game?

I just upgraded my GPU to a 5080 FE, but now I'm facing crashes in every game I play, including DCS, Far Cry 6, GTA V, RDR 2, Forza H5, and even Minecraft. Sometimes I can play for an hour before a crash, but other times, it crashes right after the loading screen. This is a GPU upgrade from a 4070 Super FE, and I didn't have any issues before making the switch. I haven't overclocked the 5080, so that's not the problem. Here are my system specs: i9 12900k, Strix Z790F WiFi II, Corsair H150i Elite, Corsair HX1000i PSU, WD Black 1TB m.2 (system drive), WD Black 4TB m.2 (game drive), and Corsair Vengeance 2x32GB (64GB) DDR5 - 6000 (XMP Enabled). Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Honestly, the drivers for the RTX 50 series have had a lot of problems. I’ve seen videos from GamersNexus talking about this constantly. Being an early adopter can be tough because the drivers can still be buggy for months after release, so trying out different versions could really help you.

Start by using DDU to fully uninstall your display drivers and then reinstall the latest ones from NVIDIA. Make sure your BIOS and chipset drivers are up to date as well. Sometimes, the RAM can cause stability issues with XMP enabled, so you might want to disable that temporarily and see if it helps. Also, keep an eye on your CPU temperatures to ensure there’s no overheating.

It sounds like it’s probably the drivers since many people have been dealing with crashes on recent NVIDIA graphics drivers. Just stick with the DDU method of trying different versions until you find one that works. You might want to check if the March drivers are more stable for you.

I had a horrible time with crashes too until I updated to the latest driver—576.28 or something like that. It fixed everything for me! I did a fresh install using DDU, and I also removed the iCUE software because I read it can cause issues. I’m not entirely sure if that helped, but no crashes since!

Is there any way to control all my Corsair RGB and fans without iCUE? I have everything from my fans to the AIO pump under iCUE control, and I'd like to keep it functional.
