Should I wait until 2027 or 2028 to buy new storage drives?

I'm trying to decide whether I should buy more storage now or hold off until 2027 or 2028. I purchased a Seagate 12TB HDD for $120 and a Samsung 970 EVO 1TB SSD for $52 in 2023. Then, I got a Crucial 8TB SSD for $140 in mid-2025. I've noticed that prices have been increasing. Do you think the prices for HDDs and SSDs will drop in 2027 or 2028, or should I just grab what I can get right now?

Definitely! If you're not in a rush, you could wait, but I think you're better off just securing what you can now. The market is unpredictable, especially with tech like this.

It's tough to make precise predictions, but many think prices will continue to rise or at least stay pretty high in 2027. Even if they don't spike significantly, they're not expected to go down either. If you can wait, be cautious before making a big purchase.

In short, yes, it's likely that the prices will remain high. If you're in urgent need of more storage, it would be wise to make the purchase now and not gamble on prices dropping later.

Honestly, no one can say for certain what will happen, but there's a good chance that prices will still be up there by then. If you need the storage now, it might be better to buy what you need instead of waiting indefinitely.

It seems like the trend indicates prices could keep climbing. If you just need bulk storage now, getting another HDD might be your best bet. SSD prices are more unpredictable, so it might be safer to buy sooner rather than later.
