How can I connect two monitors to my Lenovo ThinkPad P14s?

I'm having trouble connecting two monitors to my Lenovo ThinkPad P14s. I currently own an Acer 27" QHD 200Hz and an ASUS VZ279HE monitor. I'm using a USB-C hub for the connection. The setup I have is: the Acer connects directly to the laptop via HDMI, and I'm trying to connect the ASUS through the hub, but it only detects one monitor at a time. I really want both monitors to work as my main displays without using the laptop screen. Do I need a different type of dock or cable? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Have you thought about testing with a DisplayPort cable? The Acer has that option you can utilize, but if your hub or laptop doesn't support it, you might want a different approach. Still, keep in mind that a decent dock with the right specs would be your best bet for two monitors.

For sure, trying DisplayPort is a good idea if your setup allows it. But also double-check the specs on your hub; making sure it supports more than one display is key!

It sounds like your laptop is probably detecting just the Acer monitor because your USB-C hub might only support one external display. Most basic hubs can struggle with dual monitors. Consider upgrading to a USB-C dock that supports MST (Multi-Stream Transport) or a Thunderbolt dock. That should help accommodate both monitors, especially since your ThinkPad P14s can handle dual displays!

Yeah, definitely look into those docks! I had the same issue before I switched to a Thunderbolt dock and it solved everything.

Make sure to check your laptop specs as well as your hub model. Some hubs are limited to just one external output even if your laptop can handle more. If your hub is basic, an upgrade could be worthwhile.
