Should I Choose 2 or 4 Sticks of DDR5 RAM for My PC?

I'm building a new PC and can't decide whether to go for 2 sticks of 16GB DDR5 RAM at 6000 CL30 or 2 sticks of 32GB. I'm a bit unsure if 32GB would be enough for my needs, so I'm considering getting the 32GB now and adding another 2 sticks later if needed. However, would it be a better idea to just invest in 64GB from the start? My motherboard is an Asus ROG STRIX Z690-E. Any thoughts?

Some users do run into issues with 4 sticks. Personally, I always stick to 2 sticks for stability.

Your system will prioritize dual channel memory first. Only after that will it access the 3rd and 4th sticks. Most CPUs are optimized for dual channel, while quad channel is more for server CPUs or high-end setups like Threadrippers.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clarifying!

Yes, having 4 sticks can be worse than 2 for consumer motherboards. They typically use a daisy chain design that performs best with one stick per channel, leading to potential speed issues when you use multiple sticks per channel.
