I'm wondering if there's any hope for getting around the activation lock on a device that's locked to its owner. I read somewhere that replacing the motherboard might help? I found this device while dumpster diving and I'm not a fan of Apple, but I thought it could be useful for gaming and music. However, I feel like it's just a useless brick now. Does anyone have any ideas or advice?

What kind of device are you dealing with? If it's an Apple product, the motherboard usually holds most of its value. If the rest of the device is in decent shape and you’re comfortable replacing the logic board without causing damage, you might actually make some money off of it. Just keep in mind that Apple has made this more complicated with hardware pairing to make breaking down devices less feasible. But hey, if nothing else, you can always take it to a recycling facility instead of leaving it in the dumpster!
Honestly, there really isn't hope for bypassing the activation lock. Once an Apple device is locked to its owner, it’s pretty much a dead end.
