I'm having a frustrating issue with my laptop. It unexpectedly shuts down when the battery level is at around 50-60%. After it powers off, I can't turn it back on unless I plug in the charger. Even when it restarts, the battery indicator still shows the same percentage it was at before the shutdown; it doesn't drop to zero. If I keep it plugged in, the issue doesn't happen, so it seems battery-related.
I replaced my battery (AP18E7M) in June 2025, and it currently shows around 17% wear, which seems high for a nearly new battery. I've checked the motherboard's connector pins, and they appear fine, with no visible damage. After researching, I suspect it might be a case of voltage sag causing the battery management system to cut off power, even though it shows charge left. I'm considering getting it replaced under warranty due to the early wear. Has anyone experienced something similar? Could it be a voltage issue, or something else like firmware/communication problems? Any tips on claiming warranty for batteries showing this kind of degradation would also be appreciated.

That behavior you’re describing typically points to a bad battery. Since you mentioned it's not an original (OEM) battery, that might also be a factor. These aftermarket batteries can have inconsistencies. I recommend swapping it for a new OEM battery; it should resolve the issue.
It sounds like your battery is indeed having issues. If it’s shutting down at 50%, that's a strong indicator that it might be defective. Have you tried running a BIOS diagnostics test? It might help identify battery health more accurately.
I agree, replacing it sounds like the way to go! After a year, that's quite unusual. I had a similar situation and ended up switching the battery for an OEM one. It made all the difference.

Do you have a reliable site to recommend for original batteries in Europe? I'm in Italy, and the Acer official store charges around 100 euros for it.
