Why is my Intel Core Ultra 285k CPU always at 100% load after moving to a new rig?

Hey everyone! I just upgraded my rig and moved my existing Windows OS to the new setup. Everything seems fine in BIOS, but as soon as I boot into Windows, my CPU is stuck at 100% load. Even though the system runs smoothly, it's concerning because my CPU idle temperature is 55°C, while in BIOS, it's only 33°C. I've tried safe mode, updating drivers, running Windows updates, closing unnecessary processes, and various troubleshooting methods I found online, but nothing's working. I haven't changed anything in the BIOS that I'm aware of. Am I overlooking something important? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! By the way, my setup includes a Gigabyte Z890 Aorus Master motherboard, 128GB DDR5 RAM, and a 1200W Superflower PSU.

It could be some driver conflict from when you moved your setup. A clean install of Windows will likely solve it—just remember that this will wipe the drive it's on, so back up anything important first!

Thanks, everyone seems to agree that a fresh install is the next step!

It could definitely be some leftover drivers or software from your old hardware messing things up. A clean install is definitely the way to go.

Your CPU probably needs a fresh start. The Windows thread scheduler might not be set up for this CPU, which can cause all sorts of issues. You’ll also need to install a bunch of drivers for everything to function properly.

Got it! I’ll prioritize doing a fresh install. Thank you for the advice!

It sounds like you might have a virus or some issues with the SSD. I’d recommend trying to run Windows from a different SSD to see if that fixes the issue. And just a heads up, it’s usually better to do a fresh Windows install rather than moving the SSD directly to a new rig.

Thanks! I’ve checked for viruses and malware already, so I don’t think that’s the problem. I’ll try Windows on another SSD soon to see what happens. I suspect the migrated OS may have some conflicting drivers.
