I recently upgraded my PowerSpec G901 with a new Nvidia 5080 GPU and a Corsair RM1000x PSU. After installation, my system powered on with all fans and lights working, but my monitor showed no signal and my motherboard displayed a white light, indicating an error. Initially, I used an incorrect adapter to connect the GPU, but after correcting that, I ran into more issues. I've checked all the connections and even tried switching back to my old 3080 and previous PSU, but now the computer doesn't power on at all. I'm really worried I might have fried my motherboard. Is there a chance this was caused by a faulty PSU or was it my mistake? What should I do next?

Hey! It sounds like you might have mixed up some modular cables, which can cause all sorts of weird issues. If you're using a modular PSU, remember that those cables aren't always interchangeable. The white light on your motherboard is actually an error indicator, and it could mean there's a problem with your GPU. Double-check all your connections and cables, especially the ones to the PSU.
I suggest posting some pictures of your setup. That can really help figure out if there's something connected incorrectly. If you've put the old PSU and GPU back in and it still doesn't work, it could be the motherboard or a connection issue. Don't forget to clean up any dust while you're at it!
I’ll upload some pics soon! I thought I had everything right, but now I’m worried it could be both the PSU and motherboard. Here’s the link to my setup: [https://imgur.com/a/8trxjo5](https://imgur.com/a/8trxjo5). Excuse the mess!
Just a heads up, make sure that you have the CPU power cable plugged into the motherboard as well. It’s often overlooked but really important for the system to boot properly. Good luck!
Yep, I checked that too! It’s all connected tight, but thanks for the suggestion!
I thought the white light was signaling an error with the GPU too. I also checked all my cables and wasn’t sure if maybe the PSU wasn’t providing enough power.
