Can My Older Intel NUC Handle Running Minecraft and Other Services on Linux?

Hey everyone! I've got an older Intel NUC that I've been using primarily to host Minecraft servers and other games. It's low on power consumption, so I can leave it running for days without worry. Recently, I got curious about trying out Linux. For context, I work in IT where we mainly use Windows and Macs, and I've got a few of each at home. I enjoy tinkering with tech. I've heard that Linux can be great for older hardware, so I'm looking for insights. What advantages or cool projects could I take on with a Linux setup, especially for server hosting or maybe even turning it into a NAS? Any tips or advice would be super helpful!

It sounds like a solid setup! If you're just planning to run a Minecraft server, the NUC can definitely handle that, especially if you keep the settings low. It's also often used for other server services. You might want to consider how many services you'll run simultaneously to avoid hitting performance bottlenecks. Beyond just Minecraft, you could set up a NAS and probably still have room for running a few other small services!

I’m planning to run a server for Palworld too. With 32GB RAM from an old laptop and a decent CPU, I think I can make it work!
