I've noticed a weird electric shock sensation from my laptop after it was jostled around on a cart that went over some bumpy ground. Ever since then, whenever I touch it, especially after plugging it in, I feel a sharp current that's getting worse. I know it's probably not smart, but I couldn't wait to get online and ended up using it all night. Now my hand and arm are hurting, and I'm feeling a bit foggy mentally. How bad do you think this is for me?

Hey, sorry to hear this! What you’re experiencing sounds pretty serious. That sharp sensation when touching your laptop, especially when plugged in, suggests there might be an electrical issue possibly caused by the bumps. This could mean there's some current leaking onto the laptop casing, and you shouldn’t ignore that. Using the laptop after feeling the shock might have exposed you to low-level shocks repeatedly. The pain in your arm and the cognitive fog could be connected to that. Seriously, please stop using it right now and have it checked out by a tech. Seeing a doctor is also a smart move—sometimes electric shocks can lead to delayed effects that aren’t immediately noticeable. You might be okay, but it’s better to be safe!
Thanks for the advice! It’s just a rented Acer laptop, so I didn’t really notice any issues before returning it. I figured it was just the bumps from rolling it into the elevator. Do you know more about the risks involved? I was telling myself that as long as I didn’t see anything visibly wrong, I was in the clear.
