Tips for Surviving Long Hours in Front of the Computer?

Hey everyone! I hope you can give me some advice. I spend around 8-9 hours a day at my home office job using the computer, and sometimes I have extra translation work that can extend that time to 11 hours. On top of that, I'm currently studying programming, which I really enjoy, but after all that screen time, I often struggle to focus. I'm looking for any tips or recommendations to make this situation more manageable. Maybe suggestions on a good chair or other comfort techniques? I've got a decent desk setup with a 32" and a 27" screen, and I already use a gaming chair, but I could really use your advice. Thanks a lot!

Don’t forget to take regular breaks! Try stepping away for a few minutes, stretch your legs, or even take a quick walk. These small moments really help recharge your focus for the next session.

You might want to Google "ergonomic seating for computer" and check out some images for guidance. A proper ergonomic setup can really make a difference. Also, if you can, switch to dark mode—it's easier on the eyes, especially during long hours!

As someone who also spends a lot of time in front of a screen, I've found a couple of things that really help. The 20-20-20 rule is great: every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. And if you can, set a timer for yourself to get up and move around every hour—it doesn't have to be long, just a little movement helps. Also, you might want to consider that your gaming chair isn't ideal for such long hours. A good office chair with lumbar support could be a game changer!

Thanks for the tips! I've got two dogs that help me take breaks—getting up to play with them is a win-win for focusing and moving around. I'll definitely look into those office chairs as well, appreciate the advice!

If you have a window nearby, utilize it! Take a minute to look outside, close your eyes for a moment, inhale deeply, and exhale. It’s important to step away from your screen whenever you can—imagine you were in a regular office where you'd have those little breaks to chat or grab a drink.
