Is My First PC Build Good? Should I Upgrade My GPU?

I'm building my first PC and haven't made any purchases yet. I'm considering spending an extra $800 CAD for a 5080, but my current build with an RTX 9070 costs $3500 CAD. Here's what I have so far: a Musetex Y6 ATX case, an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU, an MSI X870 MAG Tomahawk WiFi AM5 DDR5 ATX motherboard, a Gigabyte Gaming OC Radeon RX 9070 XT 16GB GDDR6 GPU, Patriot Viper DDR5-6000 CL30 32GB RAM, a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE ARGB CPU cooler, a UD90 2TB SSD M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe storage, and a Corsair RM1000E ATX 1000W fully modular power supply. Any suggestions for improvements or advice on the GPU upgrade?

Just a heads up, the UD90 uses QLC flash, which isn’t as durable and will slow down over time. I recommend getting a drive with TLC flash like the TeamGroup MP33, MP44, G50, or the Patriot P400 Lite/VP4300 Lite for better longevity.

Figured storage would be a concern. What about the WD SN850X?

Your build is already looking solid, and I wouldn't suggest spending an extra $800 on the 5080. The performance difference with the 9070 XT isn't huge unless you're really into ray tracing or NVIDIA's exclusive features. Plus, the 9070 XT already delivers great performance. If you have extra cash, consider upgrading your case for better airflow or investing in a quality monitor instead. Stick with the 9070 XT!

Is the Darkflash DY470 a better case?

Answered By BudgetBuilder24 On

Definitely go with the 9070 XT! I’m not an AMD fanboy—I run a 5070 myself—but it’s all about price-to-performance. I got my 5070 for $90 less than a regular 9070. There’s just no reason to spend more on the 5070 Ti or 5080 unless money is no object!

Well I'm definitely not rich so I'll stick with the 9070 XT lol thanks!
